Fire Up Something Wicked
Spooky season has arrived and while the rest of the world is busy carving friendly little pumpkins and sticking plastic spiders to the wall, we’re here for something darker – Halloween cooked over real fire. Smoke in the air, cold night sky, something wicked bubbling on the grill. That’s the vibe.
This year we’re bringing twisted BBQ creations to the table – recipes that look sinful, taste savage and absolutely refuse to be boring. Some are fresh from the A&O workshop, others are conjured up by our own community of flavour fiends. One thing they all have in common? They go hard.
So light the fire, sharpen the knives and don’t look behind you – things are about to get tasty. 🖤🔥
🍎 Smoky Candy Apple Pork Bombs

Forget toffee apples – these things are built for carnivores. Smoky pulled pork seasoned with Hog Heaven and Sweet Bones & Bacon, shaped into apples, breaded, deep fried and dipped into a fiery candy shell made with Chilli Sauce. Disturbingly addictive.
You’ll Need
-
1 pork shoulder
-
Hog Heaven (binder)
-
Sweet Bones & Bacon rub
-
Apple juice
-
Eggs, flour, breadcrumbs
-
Fools Gold
-
Sugar, corn/glucose syrup, red food colouring
-
Chilli Sauce
Method
-
Smoke the pork low and slow to 205°F, sauced with Hog Heaven and hit heavy with Sweet Bones & Bacon. Rest and shred fine.
-
Shape into apple sized balls using cling film or silicone moulds. Chill overnight.
-
Bread in flour → egg → Fools Gold crumbs (twice for crunch), then chill again.
-
Fry until golden.
-
Candy coat by dipping in molten red sugar + Chilli Sauce. Bite carefully, they fight back.
🎃 Smoked Pumpkin Soup
This isn’t your nan’s soup. This is smoked, thick, fire-stained pumpkin blended with roasted garlic, onion and sweet potato, seasoned with Fools Gold for a chilli-honey glow. Perfect for serving cauldron-style.
You’ll Need
-
1 pumpkin
-
2 sweet potatoes
-
Onions + garlic bulb
-
1 baking potato
-
Fools Gold rub
-
Chicken or veg stock
Method
-
Smoke all the veg until soft and caramelised.
-
Squeeze out the roasted garlic.
-
Blend everything with hot stock until smooth.
-
Season with Fools Gold and adjust heat to taste.
-
Serve with toasted seeds + grilled cheese for dunking. Demonic levels of comfort.
👀 Jalapeño Poppers

Cheesy, smoky and mildly dangerous – the perfect Halloween snack. These jalapeños are stuffed with Cherry Crush whipped cream cheese, wrapped in pastry “bandages” and baked until golden. Add candy eyes and suddenly they’re staring into your soul. Ideal party bite.
You’ll Need
-
8 jalapeños
-
200g cream cheese
-
Cherry Crush seasoning
-
Puff pastry
-
1 egg
-
Candy eyes (optional but hilarious)
Method
-
Halve and de-seed the jalapeños.
-
Mix cream cheese with Cherry Crush and fill.
-
Wrap with pastry strips like a mummy.
-
Egg wash and bake at 180°C until golden.
-
Attach eyes once cooled. They haunt people more effectively that way.
Halloween isn’t about sugar rushes and supermarket sweets – it’s a playground for creativity. If it can be smoked, spiced, fried, charred, glazed or stuffed… it belongs on your grill this month. So get twisted, go darker with your flavours and don’t apologise for cooking something outrageous.
