Baharat Butterbean Hummus

A rich and creamy twist on traditional hummus, this butterbean-based version is elevated with Baharat seasoning and a hint of smoky paprika. The addition of honey-roasted peanuts gives it a unique crunch and depth of flavour. Perfect as a dip or spread, this hummus is finished with a drizzle of olive oil or chilli oil and extra Baharat for a flavourful punch.

  • 1 tin of butter beans, drained
  • Olive oil (to desired consistency)
  • Tahini (to taste)
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Small handful of honey-roasted peanuts
  • Generous pinch of cumin
  • Generous pinch of Baharat seasoning
  • Generous pinch of smoked paprika
  • Generous pinch of dried oregano
  • Generous pinch of salt
  • Squeeze of ready-chopped garlic

Directions

  1. Combine the drained butter beans, cumin, Baharat seasoning, smoked paprika, oregano, salt, garlic, and lemon juice in a food processor.
  2. Begin blitzing the mixture while gradually adding tahini to your desired taste and texture. Continue to blend, slowly adding olive oil until the hummus reaches your preferred consistency.
  3. For a smoother hummus, fully blitz the honey-roasted peanuts. If you prefer a crunchy texture, add the peanuts gradually, blending until you achieve the right balance of smooth and crunchy bits.
  4. Once finished, transfer the hummus to a serving dish and drizzle with olive oil or chilli oil.
  5. Garnish with extra Baharat seasoning and a few chopped peanuts for added texture and flavour.
