Crispy Honey Chilli Pork

Five spice on steroids. Fragrant with anise, cinnamon and chilli this rub will whisk you away to Hong Kong’s Happy Valley quicker than you can say ‘Wok on!’. Perfect with this crispy pork shoulder and great accompaniment to veggie noodles.

ingredients

  • 500g diced pork shoulder
  • 4 egg whites
  • 6tbsp tbsp Honey chilli rub
  • 4 tbsp corn flour
  • 3 tbsp Mirin
  • 3 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 bunch coriander, finely chopped, separated into stalks and leaves
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp sweet chilli sauce 
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds

Directions

  1. Marinade the pork in half of the Honey Chilli Rub for 2 hours. 
  2. Mix in the egg whites and corn flour to for a rough batter
  3. Deep fry until golden and crisp. 
  4. Heat some sesame oil in a wok and throw in the coriander stalks then the pork. 
  5. Add some more Honey Chilli Rub and then the wet ingredients. Toss to coat and stir fry for a couple of minutes. 
  6. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and coriander leaves and serve with veggie noodles or fried rice.
