Sticky beef baos

Soft, pillowy bao buns loaded with crispy beef, coated in a sticky-sweet Korean-inspired glaze. Finished with fresh chilli, spring onion, and coriander, these baos pack a punch of heat, crunch, and full on flavour. Perfect as a street-food style snack or a crowd-pleasing dinner.

ingredients

  • 8 bao buns
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil 
  • 250g minute steak - sliced
  • 2-3 spring onions - halved then sliced
  • Handful of fresh coriander - chopped
  • Red chilli chopped
  • Sesame seeds to finish

Sauce:

  • 2 tsp gochujang paste
  • 2 tsp rice wine vinegar
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp runny honey
  • 1 tbsp cornflour mixed with 1 tbsp water
  • 1 tbsp Angus and Oink Korean seasoning

Directions

  1. Coat the beef strips in cornflour and set aside.
  2. Add all the ingredients for the sauce to a bowl and stir together.
  3. Fry the beef in oil in a wok for 3-4 minutes then add the sauce and keep cooking until it thickens up.
  4. Heat up your baos and then add spring onion, beef, a little coriander and red chilli and sesame seeds.
  5. Eat as many as possible.
