The ULTIMATE Steak Sandwich!

We hope you'll agree that this looks like the ultimate steak sandwich!

Kelly has made full use of this month's seasonings in the spotlight and come up with this absolute beauty, in fact it looks so tasty we feel it needs a name better than sandwich 😂

Here Kelly has dusted some sirloin steak in our Braai Seasoning and grilled it up, then added some rocket and horseradish mayo and popped it between to pieces of her amazing Garlic & Herb Focaccia Bread (see recipe below for Kelly's super simple Focaccia). BAM job done, and it's a good 'un!

Kelly's Super Simple Garlic & Herb Focaccia!

This super easy recipe involves barely 10 minutes of ‘hands on’ time.  Preparation starts the day before you wish to bake.  The slow, cold proofing provides extra flavour and a great structure to the bread.

Ingredients

 500g strong white bread flour

450g cold water from the tap

 7g Instant yeast

 10g salt

 Olive oil

3 heaped tsp A&O Garlic & Herb seasoning

 Flaky salt, such as Maldon

Method

Mix the flour, water, yeast and salt together in a large bowl.  Combine everything well but there’s no need to…knead.  Drizzle the dough with olive oil, cover the bowl with cling and refrigerate.  I went for 17 hours, but the longer the better.  You could let it go for a couple of days.

When you’re ready to bake, deflate the dough gently and tip out into a parchment lined, deep sided tray measuring about 9x13”, and just leave it alone.  Drizzle with a little more olive oil and cover it with another baking tin.

If your room temperature is around 20°C just leave the dough to do its thing for around 3 hours.  It’ll spread and puff and fill the tray with no problems.

Preheat your oven or BBQ/pizza oven to 200°C.

Mix the A&O Garlic & Herb seasoning with plenty of olive oil, about 5 tbsp, and drizzle over the dough.  Dimple the dough deeply all over with your finger tips, allowing the seasoned oil to settle down into the dough.  Sprinkle over plenty of salt and bake for 30 minutes or until deep golden in colour.

Slice and eat when cooled but still slightly warm.  This bread makes an EPIC steak sandwich!
