Ultimate Steak Sandwich

Bold, smoky, flavour packed beast featuring BBQ-grilled sirloin, seasoned to perfection with Montreal Steak & Burger. Juicy, charred, and stacked high with all the right toppings, this is steak sandwich royalty.

We serve it with a spicy Mid West slaw and a stack of waffle fries dusted with Fries with That seasoning to round the meal off in style. 

ingredients

  • 2 sirloin steaks (about 250g each)
  • 2 tbsp Montreal Steak & Burger
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 2 large ciabattas
  • 4 slices smoked cheddar or provolone
  • To serve: handful of rocket, sliced tomatoes, red onion

For the spicy mid west slaw:

  • 2 cups red cabbage, finely sliced
  • 1 carrot, peeled and shredded
  •  red bell pepper, seeded and finely diced
  • Small red onion, finely diced
  • 1 jalapeno pepper, finely sliced
  • 3 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 3 tbsp cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Montreal Steak & Burger seasoning

Directions

  1. Season the steak – Rub the sirloin steaks with the oil and the Montreal Steak & Burger seasoning. Let them sit for 30 minutes to absorb the flavours.
  2. Whilst the steak is resting, make the slaw - mix all of the ingredients together in a bowl and set aside. 
  3. Cook the chips and keep warm until ready to serve.
  4. Fire up the BBQ and cook the steaks for 3-4 minutes per side, until beautifully charred and medium-rare. Rest for 5 minutes, then slice thinly.
  5. Lightly grill the ciabatta on the BBQ until charred and crisp.
  6. Spread mayo on the toasted ciabatta. Then layer with the rocket, tomato slices, steak and slaw.
  7. Dust the chips with the Fries With That seasoning. Plate up, grab a napkin and dive on in.
