Hi, I’m Kelly. I grew up in Merseyside but, for the last 20 odd years, I’ve lived with my husband and young family in the beautiful Angus countryside here in Scotland.
Having grown up with a dad who loved to BBQ, I’d always been exposed to an element of live fire cooking. Those memories of him standing at the grill, and us all eating as a family in the garden are some of my happiest.
After leaving home, it wasn’t until June 2015 that I dipped my toe into the world of BBQ. One day, being a keen home cook, I decided I wanted to learn how to hot smoke my own salmon. A quick internet search later and I was well and truly down the rabbit hole! I discovered that a good quality kettle BBQ was a great starting point, and off I went to purchase one.
The hot smoked salmon was a success, which led to me stumbling upon the fabulous UK BBQ community and it quickly snowballed into a full on, live fire cooking obsession!
A hop, skip and a kebab recipe later, and I was introduced to Angus & Oink. I was so impressed with the products, as well as Scott and Malissa’s endless passion for what they did, that it was impossible not to get behind the brand. I had the amazing opportunity to work with them both for a short spell during the early days, when Scott was doing all the blending by hand in their outhouse. It was so exciting to be a part of it all, and I even got to name one of the rubs! Dirty Cow is still one of my favourites.
Life then took me in a different direction for a few years but ,when I returned, Scott and Malissa offered me the opportunity to become an Angus & Oink Ambassador. I was honoured to be given the chance to be a part of the brand again, and I’m thrilled to be back on the team.
